Beta Release


Hello! as we approach our Beta release, here are some of the features we have added and finalized, based on the feedback we recieved from our Alpha build. We hope you enjoy playing the game as much as we enjoyed creating it.


THROWING MECHANIC

One of the most common pieces of feedback we recieved from our alpha playtest, was that players wanted to be able to do more to the Npcs, such as harming them. While we did not want to add features that were violent as they would go against our design pillars, we added a throwing mechanic as a comprimise that both enhances gameplay and general silliness. When holding any object the player can hold "R" to charge and release to throw the object. This creates a risk-reward interaction, where players can throw coffee at the Npcs to complete orders more quickly, provided they dont miss and make a mess on the floor!  


COFFEE CRAFTING

We finished adding the various coffees the player can craft, that they unlock through playing the game. Some orders will give the player more credits when completed, but are slightly more complex to make and require various ingredients.
These new coffees and their recipes are:

  • Americano - Coffee Beans + Water
  • Cappuccino - Coffee Beans + Milk + Milk
  • Chai Latte - Tea Bags + Milk
  • Hot Chocolate - Coco Powder + Milk
  • Iced Coffee - Coffee Beans + Ice + Water
  • Iced Latte - Coffee Beans + Ice + Milk
  • Latte - Coffee Beans + Milk
  • Mocha - Coffee Beans + Coco Powder + Milk
  • Tea - Tea Bags + Milk + Water

SKINS

The base 5 skins have been added to the game! Aside from the default sergio skin, there are a variety of fun cosmetics the player can unlock when completing achievements. For example, if the player injures enough customers, they unlock the inmate skin to use in future playthroughs.


POST PROCESSING + SKYBOX

We added some post processing effects to make the game look nicer, as well as a skybox to enhance the environment. Post processing includes bloom effects on a number of LEDS + some additional lights.



ENDINGS

Multiple different endings have been added to the game that can occur depending on the players actions in-game. There is a good ending, a bad ending, and a secret worse ending.


LEVEL LAYOUT UPDATES

The layout of the cafe has been updated  and expanded to allow the player more space to navigate, as well as giving the NPCs more chairs to sit at, potentially creating a more chaotic environment in later levels. This new layout was designed with an expected player path in mind. Encouraging a smoother flow to gameplay with more space and defined areas of the cafe.
